# Connect a Hyperliquid account

Botlyz also works with **Hyperliquid**, one of the most liquid decentralized perpetuals exchanges. The principle is the same as with Lighter: your funds stay at Hyperliquid, under your wallet's control, and Botlyz only receives an **API key limited to trading** (no withdrawal possible).

## 1. Create your Hyperliquid account

1. Open [app.hyperliquid.xyz](https://app.hyperliquid.xyz) and connect your wallet (Rabby, MetaMask…).
2. Deposit **USDC**: **Deposit** button (deposit from Arbitrum, or via an exchange). Funds must be available for **perps** (the Transfer tab moves funds between Spot and Perps if needed; in "unified" mode your USDC counts automatically).

## 2. Create an API key (agent)

On Hyperliquid, the API key is called an **API wallet** (or agent): a secondary wallet authorized to trade **for** your account, without ever being able to withdraw.

1. Go to [app.hyperliquid.xyz/API](https://app.hyperliquid.xyz/API) (menu **More → API**).
2. Enter a name (for example "botlyz") then click **Generate**.
3. The agent's **private key** is displayed on screen: **copy it immediately** (it is shown only once) and keep it safe.
4. Click **Authorize API Wallet** and sign with your wallet.

> **Warning**: if you close the page without copying the private key, it is lost. Simply generate a new agent and start over.

## 3. Connect the account to Botlyz

1. In Botlyz: **Accounts** then **+ Connect an account**, **Hyperliquid** tab.
2. Fill in:
   * **Wallet address (master)**: the address of your Hyperliquid account (pre-filled with your connected wallet).
   * **API private key (agent)**: the key copied in step 2.
3. Click **Connect**. Botlyz verifies live that the agent is authorized for your wallet, then encrypts the key.

## 4. Approve the builder fees (0.10%)

As on Lighter, the protocol applies a **0.10% fee per order** (builder codes, the cap set by Hyperliquid). You approve it **once**, with a free signature from your master wallet: no funds are moved, and the approval is **revocable at any time** on the Hyperliquid side.

Once the approval is signed, you can deploy your strategies on Hyperliquid exactly like on Lighter: same strategies, same backtest (on Hyperliquid data), same SL/TP protections.

## Frequently asked questions

**Q. Can the agent key withdraw my funds?**

No. A Hyperliquid API wallet can **only trade**: no withdrawal, no transfer to an external address. That is by design.

**Q. My account is in "unified" mode (UTA), is that a problem?**

No. Botlyz handles both modes: in unified mode, your spot USDC automatically counts as trading margin; in standard mode, simply transfer your USDC to perps (Transfer button).

**Q. Does the agent key expire?**

Yes, Hyperliquid limits an agent's validity in time (around 6 to 12 months). When it expires, generate a new one and update the key in Botlyz ("Edit key" button).

**Q. Can I have both a Lighter AND a Hyperliquid account?**

Yes. Each strategy deploys on the exchange of your choice, and the dashboard aggregates both.
